about

With its wall of wailing guitars, infectious groove and dynamic structure, the blistering track showcases the band at their most inventive - and ferocious.

Lyrically, the song doubles down on its visceral sonic textures, offering a scathing critique of toxic masculinity that dexterously alternates between intricate metaphors, irreverent asides, and bracing sincerity. It’s the first taste of a three-track EP which will be rolled out later this year - but don’t think for a second you know what to expect. Inspired by the fearlessness of their musical heroes, the future of The Toothpicks promises to be anything but predictable.

lyrics

Lyrics:
You’re silver nitrate and idle flame
It’s such a pity, such a shame.

You’re a molotov cocktail hurled in vain
at anyone who knows your name.

You’re pigs at the trough of testosterone
and shit cologne.

One of these days, you’ll reap what you sow.
One of these days, you’ll leave each other alone.

Please sir, take my hand
Show me how to understand
Strip me down and stare,
Lure me to your squalid lair
Please sir, share with me
Your smarmy barbs of jealousy
Pull the wool over my eyes
Feast upon my pride

~

Now don’t think you’re so sacrosanct,
those sweet blonde locks are just a plant.

Takes two to tango in the dead of night
and you won’t give up without a fight.

You’re a six foot infant as I live and breathe,
no clue what you need.

One of these days, you’ll tear apart his creed.
One of these days, you’ll sever and you’ll bleed!

Please sir, take my hand
Show me how to understand
Strip me down and stare
Lure me to your squalid lair
Please sir, share with me
Your smarmy barbs of jealousy
Pull the wool over my eyes
Feast upon the one I prize.
